STORY

Most people who want a new house on their own land are not after anything unusual. They want it warm, finished on time and priced honestly.

Oliver Shiopan set up the company in 2025 after years on timber frame sites across the Midlands, working for larger contractors. The frame would often go up in a week, and then the house stood half finished for months, because nobody owned the whole job.

So Shiopan Maison is organised the other way round: one contract and one site manager for each house, four standard designs that are already engineered, and a designer in the office for anyone whose plot or family does not fit a standard plan.

We take on a limited number of houses each year, all within about 60 miles of Birmingham, so that the site manager can be on every site every week.

FRAME

Frames are engineered in our office, made as closed panels by a partner factory in the West Midlands and put up by our own crew.

    01ENGINEERED

    Every stud, lintel and fixing is set out in the frame design and checked by a structural engineer before anything is cut.

    02PANELLED

    Walls are built flat on factory tables with studs, sheathing, insulation and membrane, and window openings square to a few millimetres.

    03DELIVERED

    Panels are labelled in the order they go up and arrive on two or three lorries, usually on consecutive days.

    04ERECTED

    A crew of five lifts the panels with a small crane and closes the shell in 5 to 10 working days, weather permitting.

AREA

We build within about 60 miles of Birmingham. A turnkey house further away is possible when our site manager can still reach it every week.
